- Neil Young’s annual acoustic-only Bridge School Benefit shows always boast some incredible lineups, and this year looks to be just as memorable for both its talent-stacked bill and the curveballs that Uncle Neil has brought on board. Joining Neil Young and Crazy Horse next month are Jack White, The Flaming Lips, Gary Clark Jr., Lucinda Williams, K.D. Lang, and, for some reason, Guns N’ Roses and Sarah McLachlan. We’ll just have to wait and see if Axl and co. can top Thom Yorke’s showstopping performance of “After The Gold Rush”.
- The highlight of Monday mornings for music fans everywhere, NPR’s First Listen series boasts new albums from Grizzly Bear and Dinosaur Jr. this week. Listen to Shields and I Bet On Sky over at NPR, and on a related note, have a spin of Thee Oh Sees’ new album, Putrifiers II, over at Stereogum.
- Fresh off the release of their new single “Details” and the announcement of their impending debut album, Atoms For Peace members Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich performed a DJ set on Saturday night where they played some new tracks from their forthcoming debut, as well as snippets of tracks from Talking Heads and SBTRKT. - Ahead of the October 2nd release date of his new album Until The Quiet Comes, Flying Lotus has released an unfinished remix of Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin Bout You”. Listen to the early draft of the famously productive producer’s take on Ocean’s modern classic below.
